Some honey for my honey...
This is for those of you who haven't discovered the benefits of warm lemon and honey yet, or who have maybe thought of it but that's pretty much all that is... you know who you are. I'm the same way. I come across a great idea and this is how my thought process starts;
"I'm definitely trying this! This is great! Starting tomorrow. Or maybe Monday. Yeah, Monday. Monday's are always a good day to start new things. Or maybe I should wait to the 1st of next month? So I start from the beginning of the month, like a fresh start? Yeah, I'll do that."
And then surprise surprise, the new "great and super awesome" idea is now gone and forgotten. Story of my life.
And I know a lot of you can relate. Let's face it, it's in our nature.
BUT hold your horses!
These are the reasons why you should NOT let this super awesome idea and morning ritual slip right past you:
- Energy, who doesn't need more energy in morning?
- Antimicrobial effects
- Purification of the body
- Immune strengthening
- Great for coughs and head colds
- Helps your digestive system
- Accelerate metabolism which helps with your weight
- Calms the nerves
- Removes bad breath
So the honey, with its antibacterial properties, can actually help your body get rid of harmful bacteria and is also yam packed with goodies (nutrients) such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, soium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium and fluoride that repair and stimulate tissue growth. So it basically flush out the toxins in your body and then stuff it with nutrients- sounds great to me!
Lemons, as you probably already know (at least I hope you do), is very high in Vitamin C. The juice of one lemon contains 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance for adults and it is also one of the most important vitamins to help the immune system, working like a powerful anti-oxidant.
So, there you go, don't let this morning routine go. And don't just drink this when you feel like you are getting sick. You want to do this daily, every morning so you can prevent your body from getting sick. The key is always prevention.
Now, how to drink it?
I use one teaspoon of honey with half a lemon in warm water, which is originally boiled water that I let stand to simmer. Just let it be warm enough so it allows the honey to melt.
I would love to hear your comments below. Maybe some other benefits I missed? Why you love it? How do you take it? Anything you want to share!
Have a beautiful day everyone!
