Quinoa Blue Smoothie



Okay today was one of those days where you just have to drag your butt to the DMV. My license expires in two days and I had done enough procrastination. I love saving everything to the last minute, especially things that are not that fun for me. It took TWO HOURS... yup. And I had the brilliant idea of saving breakfast until after I came back so of course, I cursed myself as I almost turned hangry. Just kidding, I don't get angry, just sometimes, maybe. 

Lucky me I had some leftover quinoa porridge in the fridge, and decided to use that in my smoothie. Not knowing if it would turn into Yum or Blah, I didn't document any pictures of the process, but I'll do my very best to make you feel like you were in my kitchen with me 😘  

Adding quinoa to your smoothie is perfect for those looking to add more protein to their diet or their smoothie, especially after exercising.  

So first things first, prance over to your kitchen and see if you have these ingredients below, if not, this is your time to shine and do a market run! ;)


1/4 Cup Quinoa (rinsed)
2 Tbsp Rolled Oats
1/4 Cup Water
3/4 Cup Almond Milk
1/8 Tsp Ground Cardamom
1/4 Tsp Vanilla Extract

Bring all ingredients in a pot to a boil. Then simmer, covered for 15 minutes until the quinoa is tender. Let sit for 5 minutes and fluff.


1/2 Cup Quinoa Porridge
1/2 Frozen Blueberries
1/2 Frozen Blackberries
1/2 Tsp Raw Honey
1 Banana

Mix all the ingredients in the blender.

Voila, done!
